Podium for Henry Domain after MP Kartracing shows race-winning pace in Kristianstad

MP Kartracing demonstrated the strength of its Henza kart package during the fourth round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series at the Åsum Ring in Kristianstad.

Henry Domain converted an excellent weekend into third place in the OK Final, while Leonardo Gorski dominated the OK Junior qualifying heats before a technical issue ended what appeared certain to become a victory challenge.

Luuk Taal also reached an important milestone by claiming his first qualifying heat victory in the OK senior category. Across both classes, the entire MP Kartracing line-up showed determination, made progress and gained valuable experience ahead of the FIA Karting European Championship at the same circuit.

Gorski dominates the OK Junior heats

Leonardo Gorski was the driver to beat throughout the OK Junior qualifying heats.

The combination of Gorski, GFR Engines and the Henza kart showed incredible pace around the demanding 1,221-metre Swedish circuit. Leonardo crossed the finish line first in every qualifying heat, with only a penalty in one race preventing him from completing the heats with a perfect set of results.

His performances placed him at the front of the field for Saturday’s decisive races and made him the clear favourite for victory.

Gorski immediately confirmed that status in the Super Heat. After only one lap, he had already created a gap to the drivers behind him and appeared to be in complete control. Based on the pace shown throughout the weekend, he was on course for a comfortable Super Heat victory and should have been in the ideal position to fight for the win in the Final.

Unfortunately, karting is also a mechanical sport. A technical issue forced Leonardo to retire from the Super Heat, taking away what was developing into a straightforward victory.

The retirement meant he had to start the Final much further back than his performance deserved. Leonardo again showed strong pace and fought to regain positions, but in such a competitive field there was not enough time to return to the front before the chequered flag. He wasn’t the only MP driver in the final; Ludwig Granquist quietly moved around the track all weekend, leading to a solid points finish in the final.

The final result did not reflect the level at which Gorski, GFR Engines, Henza Kart and the entire MP Kartracing team performed throughout the weekend. However, the pace shown in Kristianstad confirmed that the package is capable of fighting for victory at the highest level of international karting.

Domain rewards excellent weekend with P3

Henry Domain delivered an outstanding weekend in the OK senior category.

A very strong qualifying performance and consistently competitive results in the heats placed Henry among the leading drivers heading into Saturday’s decisive races.

Domain continued that form in the Final, competing at the front against some of the strongest OK drivers in the world. He remained firmly involved in the leading battle and brought the Henza kart home in third position.

The podium was a deserved reward for the speed, consistency and maturity Henry showed throughout the entire event. It also confirmed the competitiveness of MP Kartracing in both the OK and OK Junior categories.

First OK heat victory for Luuk Taal

Luuk Taal enjoyed an important breakthrough in Kristianstad.

Luuk began the event with an excellent qualifying performance, immediately placing himself in a strong position within the large and closely matched OK field.

He then reached an important milestone by claiming his first qualifying heat victory in the OK senior category. Luuk controlled the race well and converted the speed he had shown since qualifying into a deserved win.

The result was an important step in his continued development during his first season in the senior class. Although the remainder of the weekend did not produce the final result his early performance deserved, his qualifying pace and first OK heat win provided plenty of positives.

Race-winning potential across both categories

Round 4 in Kristianstad showed the strength of the MP Kartracing programme in both OK and OK Junior.

Henry Domain secured a podium after an excellent qualifying session and three heat victories. Leonardo Gorski led the OK Junior classification after four official heat wins and showed race-winning pace with the Henza kart and GFR engine package.

Luuk Taal celebrated his first OK heat victory, Lenni Mäkinen was a highlight moving up 20 positions in his last heat and Mika Runitz continues to prove his is very comfortable in his first year driving the senior class. It was Antonio Cocchianella who consistently made his way through the heats with a P14 in the super heat, gaining eleven positions during the race. Piotr Gorecki and Amelia Wyszomirska proved to be consistent with some nice moves in the super heats climbing up the ladder. As well as Yves Ris and Rocco Simone, they are improving each race. A final is coming soon.

The weekend ultimately brought a mixture of excellent performances and difficult moments, but the potential of the complete package was clear.
